White Day 2006
White Day 2006: The 2nd Annual LJ White Day Event
Last years White Day was the start of a pretty big success so I decided to continue this and make it an annual event. Last year it was held at
anijgrl7 and this year it's being held at
ani_art due to the fact that not everyone would be able to view the post.
White Day is a day to celebrate the people in your life. *Please comment if you are going to participate, I love to hear it. Please read the FAQ section before posting a question or comment.
White Day on LJ:
March 14, 2006 is the date of White Day.
The rules for White Day are simple:
1) Thank all your friends, family, and/or significant others for their love/friendship.
2) You can give them a small token, small presents, of appreciation.
3) Or you can just thank all of them in a post.
4) Or use one of the many banners that I will be creating
5) Tell all your friends about the holiday by referring them to this post.

Banners For White Day:
You are free to use these banners and the code to post them is listed in the box below each banner. Just copy the code and paste it where ever you want to. It's that easy.
Celebrate White Day March 14I will be adding a few more banners, but right now you can have this one.
College is hard. I only had the time to make 1 this year. Feel free to post banners you want to make in comments.
Presents for White Day:
My friend had a great idea of giving people grayscale icons for White Day last year. Other good inexpensive presents are just about anything white. Make your own cards, make cookies, or give the traditional white chocolate (Hershey's 'hugs' are inexpensive white chocolate ^_^) Presents aren't about the cost on white day but the meaning behind them.
History of White Day:
No, White Day isn't some White Pride Day or anything but it's a Japanese Holiday. White Day is a holiday that was created by a concentrated marketing effort in Japan. White Day is celebrated in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan on March 14, one month after Valentine's Day. On Valentine's Day, women give gifts to men; on White Day, men who received chocolate on Valentine's Day return the favor and give gifts to women. This holiday is beginning to catch on also in America.
There are many theories about the origins of White Day, but according to one, the holiday began in 1965, when a marshmallow maker started marketing to men that they should pay back the women who gave them chocolate and other gifts with marshmallows. Originally it was called Marshmallow Day, and later it was changed to White Day.
Soon, the chocolate companies started realizing that they could capitalize as well on this day, and began marketing white chocolate. Now, Japanese men give white and non-white chocolate, as well as other edible and non-edible gifts, such as jewelry or objects of sentimental value, to the women who were kind enough to think of them and give them chocolate on Valentine's Day a month prior. ~ Stolen from Wikipedia
FAQ:
Q: Can I use the banner you made?
A: Sure that's what it's there for.
Q: Can I direct link your banners?
A: Yes, this is the only time of the year I allow direct linking of the images on my site.
Q: Can I make my own banners?
A: Of’ course. You are in no way restricted to use my banners at all. Just I would really appreciate a link back to this page.
Q: I made a banner, can you add it to the ones you have here?
A: Add the banner in a comment and let people know to give you credit for it :)
Q: Why are you messing up the holiday?
A: Yes, it is slightly based off of the Japanese Holiday by the same name. But just as the Japanese celebrate Valentine's Day differently, so is this version of White Day. White day is for showing your appreciation and not just love. Someone reminded me of this, and I just want to clarify that I am basing it off the Japanese Holiday but not trying to completely copy it, but give it a different twist.
Q: You sound like a cool person; can I add you to my flist?
A: I met tons of people last year b/c of this. You are free to
ani_art without hesitation. I only use this journal to post icons and art since my other journal is "Friend's Only". You can stop by
anijgrl7 and add me but I tend to post more personal stuff on there and although I do add most people to it, I may have a reason why I can't or won't add you.
